September has come and gone and Halloween is almost here! Last year I planned my son’s costume WAY too early. He changed his mind no less than 5 times. This year, nothing is set in stone until the day before Halloween. Which means we will need to get creative in a hurry. To help, I’ve listed some of my favorite easy DIY costumes for that last minute Halloween scramble.
The SHARK and SCUBADIVER. I’ll be honest, I really l wanted my boys to dress up as this beach duo this year. These costumes are constructed mostly from items you can find around the house, minus a few pieces of fabric from the fabric store. If you have two kiddos that love the beach, these costumes are sure to make a splash!
SUPERMAN. I love this costume because you can use everything you already have. If your little guy has a superman t-shirt, add his dress clothes over the top and a pair of sunglasses (with the lenses popped out). Superman to the rescue!
CUPCAKE. This costume is a little bit of genius. All you need are craft pom poms, a white towel and an old accordion style lamp shade. Use suspenders or elastic to keep the lamp shade cupcake liner on. Hot glue pom poms on your towel like sprinkles. Yummy!
MADELINE. Dress your little one as this literary icon with a few items already in her closet. Use a blue dress, or a jean skirt and white collared top, topped with a homemade cape made from blue felt. A few red ribbons, a straw hat, and voilà! (Extra credit if you dress your entire gaggle of girls)
Have a wonderful Halloween and stay safe!
