by Elizabeth (3-5’s parent)
I feel sad as the end of the co-op year nears, and for us the end of our time at co-op as the third of our co-op-educated kids moves on. As the year draws to a close, we have become relaxed and comfortable with each other, the kids know each other well, and the adults know the kids well. It’s just pretty sweet. It’s kind of a bummer that we break for the summer and some of us go on to other things next year.
Here are some of the things I feel fondly about and will miss:
• Camaraderie with other parents
• Watching my child learn
• Watching classmate interactions and relationships
• Seeing the kids mature and learn new skills
• Watching and learning from Maddy as she calmly navigates conflicts
• Learning how to “hold space” for kid conflicts and big emotions
• The ability to check in with Maddy and Betty about concerns about all three of my children
• Relationships between kids of a larger age span than in a traditional preschool class
• Hours of free play
• Experiential art
• My child interacting and having relationships with other adults
• Life-changing parent education
• Pizza and song nights
Its been a fun and year of growth thanks to an amazing teacher, parent educator and a group of supportive, laid-back parents. We will miss you!
